Election Information

Elections for City Council are held every two years with two of the four seats up for election. Election of the Mayor is held every four years. City Council members and the Mayor serve four-year terms of office. The 2023 election for Mayor and 2 City Council seats will occur on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November 2023 (November 7, 2023).

A candidate has to declare that he/she is a qualified elector and the qualifications of a registered elector are as follows:
  • Resident of City
  • Registered voter
  • Eighteen (18) years old

The candidate has to file a completed Declaration of Candidacy accompanied by one of the following:

  1. A Petition of Candidacy signed by not less than five (5) registered qualified electors;
     
    or
     
  2. A non-refundable filing fee of $40.

The Declaration of Candidacy period is Monday, August 28, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. through Friday, September 8, 2023, at 5:00 p.m . The Declaration of Candidacy form must be turned into the Kuna City Clerk's Office located at 751 W. 4th Street, Kuna, Idaho 83634. If the candidate wishes to submit the Declaration of Candidacy signed by not less than five (5) registered qualified electors, the form must first be verified by the Ada County Elections Office located at 400 N. Benjamin Lane, Boise, Idaho prior to submittal at the Kuna City Clerk's Office. If the candidate wishes to pay the non-refundable filing fee of forty dollars ($40) then the form is only submitted at the Kuna City Clerk's Office.
